Notice: possible bus and SeaBus service disruption

All bus and SeaBus service is suspended in Metro Vancouver as of Monday, Jan. 22, and will last for at least 48 hours.
69ÌÃ (VCC) students and employees are advised to prepare as bus and SeaBus service could be suspended in Metro Vancouver on Monday, Jan. 22 as transit supervisors prepare to launch a two-day full-scale strike.
The strike, should it occur, will commence at 3 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22 and last for at least 48 hours, unless a deal can be reached before then.
This strike will affect all bus and SeaBus operations. All other transit modes will continue to operate normally, including SkyTrain, Canada Line, and West Coast Express, but will likely be busier than usual.
Information for VCC students and employees
We understand that many students, faculty, and staff rely on the bus and SeaBus system and that a loss of service would be challenging.
Please note that, in the event of transit disruption, VCC will operate as normal.
Classes are proceeding and faculty and staff are expected to attend work or make alternative arrangements ahead of time. Be prepared and plan to adjust your travel plans as necessary.
Here are a few helpful tips:
- Stay up-to-date. Sign up for , follow on X (Twitter), or call the Translink Customer Information line at 604-953-3333. You can also read these helpful on Translink’s website.
- Parking lots will be busy. Allow for extra time to travel and park—be prepared for VCC parking lots to be busier than usual. If using street parking, remember to observe street signs and follow for parking.
- Use car or bike share services. There are many options such as , , , or (Mobi bike stations are located near both 69ÌÃ campuses)
- Walk or ride your bike. Remember to practice proper road safety, such as wearing reflective clothing while walking or cycling in the darker evenings and mornings.
- Carpool. Find colleagues or peers who live near you and consider riding in together!
Lastly, contact your instructor or supervisor if you are concerned about arriving on time to class or work.
