Nine en route to Skills Canada national competitions
69ÌÃ (VCC) competitors returned from the 30th annual Skills Canada BC provincial competition with a total of 19 medals last Wednesday, April 17 at the Tradex centre in Abbotsford. We're so proud of all the students who participated in this event, which brings in the best of skilled trades across the province each year.
Last week's event drew over 3,000 spectators from grade schools across B.C., coming in to watch the competitions and interact with the various exhibition booths. Trades activities included sampling ice pops and cookies from VCC Baking, nail polishing and learning face massage techniques with VCC Salon and Spa, and fitting a tire with VCC Automotive Servicing.
Congratulations especially to the nine gold medallists who will advance to the Skills Canada national competitions being held in Quebec City between May 30-31, as well as the two podium sweeps in the baking and car painting categories.
"Behind this success are the students' dedication, commitment, hard work and talent," says Kimberly Tada, VCC Baking and Pastry Arts instructor. "They are extremely motivated students and we're so grateful for the support of our departments. We wouldn't be here without everyone's help at 69ÌÃ. It takes a village!"
